Deceased Estates & Probate

If you’ve been appointed as an executor of a will, or if you’re the next of kin to someone who doesn’t have a will, the process of estate administration can be quite a challenge, especially when you’re also grieving a loved one.

Forrest Legal Solicitors can help you in whichever role you find yourself, and we can ensure the process is completed in a timely manner meaning a much less stressful process.

We’ll advise you on what steps will be needed, how long it’s likely to take and what legal responsibilities you must meet.

Some of those responsibilities may include:

  • Obtaining a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration from the appropriate Court
  • Working with administrators or executors to coordinate and finalise arrangements with beneficiaries
  • Dealing with banks, share registries, government agencies and other organisations to collect funds and pay any debts owed by the estate
  • Arranging for real estate to be transferred to executors names so the property can be sold or transferred to beneficiaries or next of kin
  • Working with valuers and estate agents to arrange for the sale of property
  • Dealing with accountants to prepare estate tax returns or other tax related matters
  • Overseeing the whole process, keeping things moving, maintaining estate records and providing distribution statements
